3 Magic Lists
THE IDEA: CREATE 3 DOCUMENTS
With these three documents, you will have the basis for your LinkedIn profile and all kinds of content. These documents are intended to be like lego blocks...you can mix and match them, and use them as a foundation for a post, a video, an email, etc.
List 1: Pain Points: A laundry list of as many pain points you can think of.
- What is your audience struggling with?
- What problems do they have?
- What are they worried about most?
- What is your audience going through right now?
- What do they need/want?
- What are their fears?
- What are their dreams?
- How are they feeling/What’s their emotional state?
→ List 2: Benefits: What benefits does your offer provide? What do you help your audience achieve? Remember that features =/= benefits.
- A feature is what something is
- A benefit is what that feature does for you...i.e. what it helps you achieve
- Benefits are outcomes
- People don’t just buy things...they buy things to solve problems
- Describe how your audience’s life/business will be better after working with you
Questions to answer to help inform benefits:
- What does this help your client do?
- “What’s in it for me?”
Common benefits:
- Save time
- Save money
→ List 3: Differentiators: What makes your offer unique?
- What have they tried before and it didn’t work?
- How are you different?
- Why should they try you?
- What makes you better than competitors?
- What constraints do you help your audience overcome?
